The Northern York Polar Bears will face off against the Hempfield Black Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Northern York will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Northern York's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Boiling Springs as Northern York made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Polar Bears, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Sammy Magee was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Keith, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season. Izzy Hobby was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Northern York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boiling Springs only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Hempfield was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They lost 16-2 to Solanco. The contest marked the Black Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Kali Peifer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Hempfield has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. Northern York's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northern York has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .520. However, it's not like Hempfield struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
