Basketball Game Preview: Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle vs. Kearns Cougars

Juan Diego Catholic is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since December 2nd on Saturday. They came up short against Cottonwood, falling 67-43.

Juan Diego Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ayen Kuath, who posted 12 points and four blocks, and Olivia Fry, who put up four points. Kuath has been hot, having posted three or more blocks the last eight times she's played.

Meanwhile, Kearns hadn't done well against Summit Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Kearns walked away with a 46-37 victory over Summit Academy. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by exactly nine points.

Juan Diego Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Kearns, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Juan Diego Catholic lost to Kearns on the road by a decisive 44-30 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Juan Diego Catholic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
