Recap: Tallassee Tigers vs. LaFayette Bulldogs
The Tallassee Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. 2024 welcomed they with a 69-47 loss courtesy of LaFayette. While losing is never fun, Tallassee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while LaFayette is ranked 143rd).
LaFayette's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deaundra Vines, who scored 14 points along with six assists and three steals. Vines has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Camron Thomas, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Tallassee has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for LaFayette, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Tallassee will look to defend their home court on Friday against Marbury at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Marbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 back in December of 2023. As for LaFayette, they will head out on the road to face off against Lanett at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
