Basketball Recap: Madison County Takes a Loss

Madison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 53-37 to the Clarke County Eagles. The Mountaineers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Clarke County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Sipe, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. Lincoln Booker was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Madison County's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Clarke County, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Madison County has already played their next match (against Rappahannock County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Clarke County Eagles duke it out with the Central Woodstock Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
