Clearfield is a perfect 10-0 against Northridge since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Clearfield Falcons will be playing at home against the Northridge Knights at 3:30 p.m. The last four games Clearfield has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Clearfield is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since March 9, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Millard by a score of 11-9.
Brynn Nicholls and Lyla Leonhardt did some serious damage despite the final result: Nicholls scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Leonhardt scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Nicholls also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Addyson Haddock was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Clearfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Northridge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They skirted past Ogden 8-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Aubrey Solomon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Cassidy Green was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Lecour, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Clearfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. Northridge's win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Clearfield's way against Northridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Clearfield made off with a 17-6 victory. Will Clearfield repeat their success, or does Northridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
