Basketball Recap: Howells-Dodge Takes Down Dundy County-Stratton in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Howells-Dodge had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They strolled past the Dundy County-Stratton Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 54-40. The win was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won four matches in a row.

Nathan Tomcak continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Luther, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Breck Horner, who put up eight points. Horner is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. Lane Bybee was another key player, shooting 42% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Howells-Dodge's victory bumped their record up to 23-5. As for Dundy County-Stratton, they moved to 19-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Howells-Dodge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-41 win against Bancroft-Rosalie on the 14th. Dundy County-Stratton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
