Softball Game Preview: Tidewater Academy Warriors vs. Fuqua Falcons

Tidewater Academy hasn't had much luck against Fuqua recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 3:00 p.m. Tidewater Academy has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Tidewater Academy's offense. They lost 14-0 to Brunswick Academy last Thursday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, while Fuqua put up plenty of runs last Wednesday, the same can't be said for Amelia Academy. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Patriots. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.

Marissa Dempsey made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Rebekah Call was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Ledger, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Fuqua always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fuqua's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Tidewater Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
