McMinn County and Oak Ridge are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2014, but not for long. The McMinn County Cherokees will head out to face off against the Oak Ridge Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McMinn County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

McMinn County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They and East Hamilton were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but McMinn County suffered a 29-28 defeat.

Meanwhile, Oak Ridge never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed by Karns at home to the tune of 35-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their seven-point performance the match before.

Blaine Stansberry had an outrageously good game as he threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of that aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Will Pressley, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

McMinn County now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Oak Ridge, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

McMinn County was able to grind out a solid win over Oak Ridge in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, winning 14-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for McMinn County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
