Basketball Recap: Providence Grove Takes a Loss

Providence Grove played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Randleman Tigers and fell 84-51. The defeat continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Providence Grove still got an impressive performance from Andrew Thomas, who went 10 for 25 on his way to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Thomas has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Collins, who posted seven points.

Randleman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jireh Price out in front who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points. Tyshaun Goldston was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Providence Grove's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Randleman, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

Providence Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Wheatmore at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Providence Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. As for Randleman, they will venture away from home to face off against Lexington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Randleman's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
