Baseball Recap: Evergreen Park Beats Bremen for Their Fifth Straight Win

Evergreen Park had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Bremen on Thursday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Braves. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rowan Smyth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Smyth was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Evergreen Park got a massive performance out of Yarim Garcia, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Brady Bruen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Evergreen Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bremen only posted a batting average of .059.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Evergreen Park, bringing their record up to 12-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bremen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Evergreen Park will face off against Thornwood at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bremen, they will square off against Tinley Park at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
