Centennial suffers fourth straight loss on the road

Recap: Centennial Eagles vs. Hammond Golden Bears

The Centennial Eagles suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 52-18 loss at the hands of Hammond. Centennial was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-11.

It was another big night for Nia Green, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and five assists for Hammond. That makes it four consecutive games in which Green has scored at least a third of Hammond's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Centennial's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 5-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Hammond, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Centennial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marriotts Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Hammond, they will head out on the road to square off against Long Reach at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Long Reach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
