Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Spartans vs. St. Clairsville Red Devils

The Pleasant Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the St. Clairsville Red Devils at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Pleasant has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.

Last Tuesday, Pleasant had just enough and edged Ontario out 55-53.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pleasant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colin Mattix, who went 10 for 13 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Mattix a new career-high in points. Lathan Mccants was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight assists and five boards.

Pleasant was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Clairsville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 61-57 to Beaver Local.

The win got Pleasant back to even at 3-3. As for St. Clairsville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
