Pioneer hasn't had much luck against Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Pioneer got the win against Del Mar by a conclusive 12-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Gina Scripoch made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gizelle Ortiz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmah Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Pioneer lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lincoln faced off against Christopher on Wednesday. The Lions put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 17-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Carina Reuterskiold made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Reuterskiold was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Keona Perez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Serenity Hernandez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Pioneer, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-13.
Pioneer's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pioneer continue to outrun the ball?
