Preview: New Buffalo Bison vs. Countryside Academy Cougar
New Buffalo has been on the road for five straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Countryside Academy Cougar at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
New Buffalo suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 67-45 walloping at the hands of Bridgman. While losing is never fun, New Buffalo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Bridgman is ranked 245th).
Loss or not, New Buffalo got some senior leadership from Andres Becerra and Elliott Bourne. Becerra scored 16 points along with two blocks, while Bourne. scored ten points along with two steals. Bourne has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, Countryside Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on January 9th after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 65-32 loss at the hands of Michigan Lutheran. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Countryside Academy has scored all season.
New Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Countryside Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
