Baseball Recap: Tohatchi Extends Winning Streak to Five

Tohatchi hadn't done well against Zuni recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tohatchi blew past Zuni 12-3. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Luke Joe was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Dennis Sam also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Tohatchi always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Tohatchi, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Zuni, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-7.

Tohatchi and Zuni will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Tohatchi will face off against rival Thoreau at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Zuni is set to take on their familiar foe Wingate at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
