Softball Recap: Grove City Has No Trouble Against Franklin

Grove City hadn't done well against Franklin recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Taylor Thompson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Thompson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynn Hedglin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Lily Rihel, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Grove City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only managed four hits.

Grove City's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Franklin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Grove City has already played their next game, a 16-0 win against Oil City on the 9th. Franklin has also already played their next matchup (against West Middlesex), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
