Softball Recap: Chaparral Finds Home Field Redemption Against Mountain Pointe

There's no place like home for Chaparral, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let the Mountain Pointe Pride get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Firebirds have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Reese Cosman, who gave up just two hits to keep Mountain Pointe off the board. Cosman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaelyn Moffitt, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bria Belden, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chaparral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Chaparral's record is now 13-16. As for Mountain Pointe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18-1 record this season.

Chaparral does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountain Pointe, they will host Lake Havasu at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
