Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

The Thompson Valley Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Roosevelt Roughriders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thompson Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Thompson Valley turned things around against Berthoud last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 77-74 victory over the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since January 20, 2024.

Thompson Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tom Mandeville, who went 8 for 9 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Mandeville a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Rj Hale, who posted 22 points.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 55-32 to Timnath. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Roughriders have suffered since December 12, 2024.

Thompson Valley's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Thompson Valley took their win against Roosevelt in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 78-58. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Roosevelt's Seppe Salvatore, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 11 boards.
