Softball Recap: Chapman Victorious

While Chapman's victory against Greer wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Yellow Jackets 7-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ella Thornton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Krisylyn Wilder and Rylan Ivey did most of the damage at the plate: Wilder went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ivey went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Wilder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Lawson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Chapman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greer only posted an OBP of .324.

Chapman's record now sits at 8-10. As for Greer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chapman will head out to face off against Gaffney at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greer, they will venture away from home to square off against Berea at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
