Baseball Recap: Saxony Lutheran Beats Ellington for Their Third Straight Victory

Saxony Lutheran has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.09 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They put the hurt on the Ellington Whippets with a sharp 30-11 victory. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Moore was incredible, firing off four home runs and 14 RBI while going 4-for-6. Kai McDowell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Moore wasn't the only one making solid contact: Saxony Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for the Crusaders: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.2.

The win was the third in a row for Saxony Lutheran, bringing their record up to 7-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Ellington, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saxony Lutheran will challenge East Carter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ellington, they will square off against Van Buren at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Whippets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
