Softball Recap: Gustine Comes Up Short

Gustine had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Stone Ridge Christian Knights, falling 10-0. The Reds were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Gustine saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malia Huhane, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple was Huhane's first of the season.

As for Stone Ridge Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Stone Ridge Christian's side, Emma Quisenberry made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Quisenberry has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maddie Gwara was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gustine will host Modesto Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they will challenge Waterford at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.64 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
