Softball Recap: Peddie Gets the Win

Peddie hadn't done well against Hun recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Falcons narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Raiders 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since April 11th.

Juliana Miele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noemi Ortiz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ariana Gomez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Peddie is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Hun, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peddie will challenge Princeton at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.73 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hun, they will take on Hill School at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
