Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Bulldogs vs. Tunstall Trojans

Martinsville and Tunstall are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Martinsville Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Tunstall Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martinsville has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three matchups.

Martinsville is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since December 22, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of Rockingham County by a score of 60-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Tunstall's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 67-47 to George Washington. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Eagles are ranked 16th).

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Tunstall, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Martinsville strolled past Tunstall when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 43-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Martinsville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
