Softball Recap: Bay Port Triumphs

After losing to Algoma the last time they met, Bay Port decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 4-1 on Thursday.

Payton Dudra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Plumley, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bay Port now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Algoma, with the loss, they broke their 11-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bay Port will host Notre Dame Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tritons have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Algoma, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blazers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
