Soccer Recap: Southwest's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Southwest had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Highlands Owls 9-0 on Friday. Southwest might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Highlands from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Yamila Esper Velasco led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

The victory (which was Southwest's eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight matchups. As for Highlands, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10-1.

Looking ahead, Southwest will square off against Rouse on Monday. Rouse will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Southwest surely won't give up without a fight. Highlands does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
