Softball Recap: Johnstown-Monroe Finds Home Field Redemption Against Newark Catholic

There's no place like home for Johnstown-Monroe, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against the Newark Catholic Green Wave by a score of 6-1 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 back in April.

Abigail Wood and Jenna Hochanadel did most of the damage at the plate: Wood went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Hochanadel went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Wood a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Zak, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Johnstown-Monroe has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Newark Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Johnstown-Monroe will take on Big Walnut at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Newark Catholic, they will challenge Utica at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
