Baseball Game Preview: Sage Creek Bobcats vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils

For the second straight game, Sage Creek will face off against Mt. Carmel. The Bobcats will square off against the Sundevils at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Sage Creek has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Sage Creek took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Mt. Carmel.

For Mt. Carmel's part, Jack Grassa was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Furthermore, Grassa didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April.

On the hitting side, Mt. Carmel saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelle Leuck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that Leuck has snagged this season.

Sage Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.
