Softball Game Preview: First Coast Christian Knights vs. Peniel Baptist Academy Warriors

First Coast Christian hasn't had much luck against Peniel Baptist Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. First Coast Christian will look to defend their home field against Peniel Baptist Academy at 4:30 p.m. First Coast Christian has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

First Coast Christian came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 23-5 to Old Plank Christian Academy.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Peniel Baptist Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over St. Joseph Academy on Monday. Considering the Warriors have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexis Peacock was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Traelyn Baker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Darby Speaks also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Peniel Baptist Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Peniel Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for First Coast Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

First Coast Christian might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Peniel Baptist Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can First Coast Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
