Basketball Recap: Jonesboro Cardinals vs. Harris County Tigers
Jonesboro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Harris County Tigers and fell 69-37. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-29 back in December of 2024.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carmyn Bowden, who posted 15 points. London Jones was another key player, putting up ten points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harris County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Niya Broome, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The match was Broome's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalynn Cauley, who went 8 for 15 en route to 20 points and five boards.
Jonesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Harris County, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Jonesboro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 46-33 loss against Chapel Hill on the 20th. As for Harris County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-18 win against Manchester on the 18th.
