Baseball Recap: Williston Northampton Comes Up Short

Williston Northampton extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They came up short against the Suffield Academy Tigers, falling 9-1. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Saturday.

As for Suffield Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

For Suffield Academy's part, Charlie Gamere spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Mason Lester was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Gabriel Rivera was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Williston Northampton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-3 loss against Cheshire Academy on the 7th. As for Suffield Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against Millbrook School on the 7th.
