Basketball Game Preview: San Angelo Central Bobcats vs. Frenship Tigers

San Angelo Central hasn't had much luck against Frenship recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the San Angelo Central Bobcats challenge the Frenship Tigers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in San Angelo Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Friday, San Angelo Central was beaten by Ellison 99-71.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Frenship, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They rang in the new year with a 63-55 win over BigTyme Prep Academy on Saturday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Bears are ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Frenship's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points per game. As for San Angelo Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.

San Angelo Central came up short against Frenship in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 57-49. Can San Angelo Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
