Basketball Recap: Jay Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Aubreigh Nelson and Adyson Adams

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jay can now relate to. They took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Holmes County Blue Devils. The loss continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Jay had strong showings from Adyson Adams, who posted 13 points, and Aubreigh Nelson, who scored 17 points and eight boards. Presley Hawthorne was another key player, putting up five points and six assists.

Emma Whitaker continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Holmes County, dropping a double-double with 31 points and 11 rebounds. Whitaker has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bri Adams, who put up 11 points.

Jay's loss dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Holmes County, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Jay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holmes County, they will face off against Hilliard at 5:00 p.m. on February 26th. One thing working in Holmes County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 contests.
