Football Recap: Montrose Falls Despite Big Games from Cade Saunders and Elijah Womack + How To Watch

Montrose and Palmer Ridge squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Montrose had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 31-29. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Red Hawks, who until this contest were averaging 11.69 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Montrose had strong showings from Elijah Womack, who gained 166 total yards and a touchdown, and Cade Saunders, who rushed for 34 yards and one TD. Womack's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards.

Palmer Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Harris, who threw for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 44 yards. Magnus Newman did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 135 receiving yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Montrose fell to 12-1. As for Palmer Ridge, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.

Montrose does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmer Ridge, they will challenge Dakota Ridge at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Bears 10.9, the Eagles 11.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
