Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Providence Grove's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Providence Grove won the last time they faced Eastern Randolph, and Laurel Bernhardt did her part to make sure it happened again. The Providence Grove Patriots blew past the Eastern Randolph Wildcats 63-39 on Thursday thanks in part to Bernhardt, who posted 24 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Callie Craven, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds. Cora Sparrow was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Providence Grove is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Eastern Randolph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Providence Grove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-26 win against Trinity on the 4th. As for Eastern Randolph, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-27 loss against Wheatmore on the 31st.
