Baseball Recap: Williams Has No Trouble Against Joseph City

Williams won the last time they faced Joseph City and things went their way on Thursday too. The Vikings blew past the Wildcats 13-5. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Cade Trimble made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Trimble was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ricky Gonzalez was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Q Ford, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Williams hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Joseph City struck out seven times.

Williams has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Joseph City, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williams will head out to face off against St. Michael at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.07 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Joseph City, they will take on Ash Fork/Seligman at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
