Pearce is 8-2 against MacArthur since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pearce Mustangs will host the MacArthur Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Friday, Pearce was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-48 to Richardson.

Meanwhile, MacArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 83-61 to Dallas Jesuit. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 723rd, while the Rangers are ranked 77th).

Despite the defeat, MacArthur saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Treyden Berryman went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Berryman a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Landon Tatum, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, MacArthur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Pearce's loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for MacArthur, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-22.

Pearce barely slipped by MacArthur in their previous matchup on January 3rd, winning 38-37. Does Pearce have another victory up their sleeve, or will MacArthur turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
