Soccer Game Preview: Hickory vs. Tallwood

The Hickory Hawks will square off against the Tallwood Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hickory's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Salem by a score of 2-0. The victory continues a trend for Hickory in their matchups with Salem: they've now won five in a row.

Kayleigh Belton and Addison Wall scored both of Hickory's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tallwood). They put the hurt on Green Run with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Tallwood.

The victory got Hickory back to even at 2-2-2. As for Tallwood, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Everything went Hickory's way against Tallwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, as Hickory made off with a 4-0 win. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
