Basketball Recap: Franklin Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tanner Jones and Eddie Garcia

Franklin fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Montwood on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montwood Rams. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 9-4 in the first quarter.

Franklin's loss came despite strong showings from Eddie Garcia and Tanner Jones. Garcia went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points, while Jones posted 11 points. What's more, Garcia also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zander Jones, who put up nine points.

Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 17-14. As for Montwood, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 23-9.

Franklin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-41 defeat against Coronado on the 14th. As for Montwood, they have also already played their next match, a 66-37 loss against Permian on the 18th.
