Basketball Recap: Boquet Valley Beats Lake Placid for Their Third Straight Win

If Lake Placid wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Boquet Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Carson Leibeck. The Boquet Valley Griffins had just enough and edged the Lake Placid Bombers out 56-54 thanks in part to Leibeck, who went 14-for-29 en route to 37 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He is becoming a predictor of Boquet Valley's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 8-2 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Jackson Pettit was another key player, putting up 12 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Despite the loss, Lake Placid still got an impressive performance from Seb Cecunjanin, who almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. That was a full 53.7% of Lake Placid's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Wylie, who earned ten points and five rebounds.

The victory (which was Boquet Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 10-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for Lake Placid, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boquet Valley will welcome Ticonderoga at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Boquet Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Lake Placid, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Chazy at 6:30 p.m.
