Softball Game Preview: Scranton Prep Cavaliers vs. West Scranton Invaders

Scranton Prep hasn't had much luck against West Scranton recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Invaders at 4:00 p.m. Scranton Prep has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Scranton hit Scranton Prep with a four-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cavaliers took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

Emelia Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Katie DeRiancho was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Valley View hit West Scranton with a five-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Invaders fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Invaders in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Mia Tallo made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Connor, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Scranton Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for West Scranton, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Scranton Prep came up short against West Scranton in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 10-5. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
