Baseball Recap: Tonopah Valley Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Yuma Catholic, Tonopah Valley was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the Arizona Lutheran Academy Coyotes get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Phoenix, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Connor Hart made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over 6.1 innings pitched. He has become a key player for Tonopah Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 8-9 otherwise. Hart was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Amaral, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Caleb Procunier, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Tonopah Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Tonopah Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season.

Tonopah Valley will face off against Odyssey Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Arizona Lutheran Academy, they will challenge Heritage Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
