Baseball Recap: Kermit Yellow Jackets vs. Van Horn Eagles
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kermit). They were the clear victor by a 22-1 margin over the Van Horn Eagles on Friday. The Yellow Jackets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ian Bejarano made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Kermit is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise. Bejarano was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kermit let Mauricio Perez and Zeke Carrasco run wild. Perez went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Carrasco scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Perez has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Alvarez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Kermit was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .594. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The win got Kermit back to even at 4-4. As for Van Horn, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

As for Van Horn, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Non Varsity Opponent at 4:00 p.m. on March 7th.
