Volleyball Recap: Kelly Lopez Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Keys Gate

Cushman won the last time they faced Keys Gate and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cougars came out on top against the Knights by a score of 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

While Cushman might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Keys Gate scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19.

Cushman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelly Lopez out in front who had 22 assists and four aces. Those 22 assists gave Lopez a new career-high. Martina Mouawad was another key player, getting 20 digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Cushman was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

The win got Cushman back to even at 3-3. As for Keys Gate, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cushman will square off against David Posnack Jewish Day at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Keys Gate, they will host Pinecrest Glades Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
