Preview: Solvay Bearcats vs. Cortland Purple Tigers

Solvay has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Cortland Purple Tigers at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Solvay has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Even though Red Creek scored an imposing 59 points on Monday, Solvay still came out on top. Solvay enjoyed a cozy 77-59 win over Red Creek. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Solvay has managed all season.

Meanwhile, Cortland came up short against Institute of Tech on Friday and fell 46-38. While losing is never fun, Cortland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while Institute of Tech is ranked 241st).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Damauri Bell, who scored six points along with five steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Albright, who scored 16 points along with two blocks.

Cortland struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Solvay's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Cortland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
