Softball Recap: Chisago Lakes Area Takes a Loss

Chisago Lakes Area dropped their record down to 6-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the St. Francis Fighting Saints, falling 8-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for St. Francis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

For St. Francis' part, Sydney Borchert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Borchert has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emerson Markas was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Alexa Skogquist also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

While Chisago Lakes Area had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
