The McMichael Phoenix will head out on the road to square off against the West Stanly Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McMichael is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.
McMichael is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Brevard by a score of 4-1.

Lindsay Redmon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Redmon wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ava Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Stanly, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Burns 12-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Saylor Edwards, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Crayton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
West Stanly lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
McMichael has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for West Stanly, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. McMichael hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Stanly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
McMichael couldn't quite finish off West Stanly in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
