Volleyball Recap: South River Seahawks vs. Severna Park Falcons

South River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Severna Park Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Seahawks of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

South River actually scored more points across those four sets (87-84), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 9-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18.

Severna Park found their leader in underclassman Frances Santiago-Cruz, who had 17 digs. Those 17 digs set a new season-high mark for Santiago-Cruz.

South River's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Severna Park, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South River will face off against Old Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Old Mill will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something South River surely won't give up without a fight. As for Severna Park, they will take on Broadneck at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
