Baseball Recap: Yelm Wins Going Away Against Spanaway Lake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sumner, Yelm was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Spanaway Lake Sentinels. The Tornados haven't had any issues with the Sentinels recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jonah Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 7 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wesley Thompson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Robison, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Yelm now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Spanaway Lake, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Yelm will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sentinels: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
