Baseball Recap: Bremond Comes Up Short

Bremond had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Thorndale Bulldogs, falling 22-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in March.

As for Thorndale, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Thorndale's part, Jaxson Eschberger made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Eschberger a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Will Cloud and Gunner Ferguson did most of the damage at the plate: Cloud went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Ferguson got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Cloud a new career-high. Wyatt Betak was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Bremond does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Thorndale, they will square off against Chilton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
