Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Manchester Squires

The Eastern Comets will take on the Manchester Squires at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eastern comes in on 11 and Manchester on three.

Eastern is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Wabash.

Meanwhile, Manchester posted their closest victory since May 4, 2024 on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Rochester 3-2.

Harper Sturtsman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Manchester is 5-1 when Sturtsman allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Dallas Martin was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Reiss Gaerte, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Manchester now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 25-5.

Eastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Manchester in their previous matchup on May 1st, winning 16-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
